International Baccalaureate

Lakewood Catholic Academy is proud to be an International Baccalaureate Candidate School

In partnership with Saint Edward High School, Lakewood Catholic Academy is pursuing IB Middle Years accreditation, which will impact teaching and learning for students in grades six through ten.

The process involved in IB accreditation is rigorous and extensive. It is a journey that is offering us opportunities to reflect deeply on our curriculum, our learning community, and our classroom practices. Our teachers have spent meaningful time engaged in MYP collaborative planning and professional development. Additionally, seventeen of our teachers and administrators have attended at least one level of an IB three-day subject training.

We approach this journey, as we do all things, with a sense of faith and a goal of continuous growth and improvement. Please visit this IB web page often for updates about the Middle Years Program at LCA. Thank you for joining us and for your continued support.

Community Project Meetings

As a parent of a current 7th grader at LCA, please plan to attend an information session outlining an exciting project that your child will undertake during his/her 8th grade year.  This IB/MYP project, known as the Community Project, will be of central importance and the culminating experience of your child’s time at LCA.  It will integrate research, service, and action, while challenging students to grow in a variety of skill areas.  We have scheduled TWO meetings, but you are only required to attend ONE.

Community Project Meeting options:

  1. Wednesday, May 3, 6:30-7:30 in the small dining hall.

  2. Tuesday, May 9, 6:30-7:30 in the small dining hall.

We will discuss the project with your child during theology class.  Therefore, only parents are required to attend one of the evening meetings.  Please feel free to contact Eileen McGuire at with any questions.
