The bingo program is one of Lakewood Catholic Academy's most important fundraising programs. Monies raised through bingo are used for one purpose only: to help address critical capital improvements needed to our beautiful campus. To date, bingo dollars have accomplished the following:

• Roof replacement for two of LCA's three main buildings

• The construction of two state-of-the-art restrooms for LCA children

• Window replacement for the Holy Family Learning Center

Since taking over the Bingo Program in the fall of 2005, LCA has earned more than $300,000, including $170,000 in 2007 alone!  That is money coming to LCA from the larger community - NOT from tuition charges!

Bingo is completely administered by a volunteer staff of LCA Parents and other community members who simply enjoy it as a great social occasion. We hope you'll consider volunteering!  Talk to any of our current volunteers and you'll find it's an enjoyable experience.  There are many positions available.

There's something to do for everyone. Jobs available include the following:

Early Arrival/Set-up
Saturdays, 3:30 - 5:30
Sundays, 11:30 - 1:00

The sessions begin with set-up volunteers, who prepare the space for the day's games. On Saturdays, set-up volunteers work putting out chairs and table supplies, helping in the kitchen, and preparing food and coffee. On Sundays, set-up consists of the same activities, except that there's no chair set-up.

Door/Admissions
Saturdays, 4:30 - 8:00
Sundays, 11:45 - 3:00

Door workers assist the program by setting up the admissions table, which is in the hallway outside the cafeteria.  There is some handling of money, and a minimum amount of training is needed. They are the primary greeters of arriving players.

Floor Workers
Saturdays, 6:45 - 10:45
Sundays 1:45 - 6:00

Floor workers verify winning bingos with the caller and pay out the winnings to the players.  This is a social position involving lots of interaction with our players.  As the payor of winners, you are very much appreciated by the players!

Callers
Saturdays, 6:45 - 10:45
Sundays, 1:45 - 5:45

Callers CALL -- they're the ones who actually call out the bingo numbers. They operate the bingo console, and some training is definitely required.  There are two fifteen-minute breaks.  This is an ideal position for someone with a good voice and who enjoys a birds-eye view of the action.  Good callers are a critical part of a great Bingo program.

Instant Bingo Game Sellers
Saturdays, 5:00 - 11:00
Sundays 12:00 - 6:00

Have a talent for sales? This may be the job for you. Instant sellers roam the bingo hall selling instant bingo tickets. This is another highly social position! It's also a very big money-maker for Lakewood Catholic Academy.  Some training is required, and there's lots of player contact.

Office/Banking
Saturdays, 7:00 until 11:00
Sundays 2:00 until 5:30

The Office/Banking volunteers count money, cash checks for players, and generally help balance the books for the games.  The job requires some training and an aptitude for numbers!

Kitchen Help
Saturdays, 5:30 until 9:30
Sundays 12:30 until 4:30

The LCA Bingo Program features food for sale.  Kitchen workers help to prepare and sell the food, and dole out the free coffee during games. There are a number of positions, including food prep and serving.

We also need someone who would be interested in shopping for food.
