Basketball for the Little Ones Starts October 14th
With the CYO hoops season starting soon, there’s no reason for our
younger kids to feel left out. The LCA Intramural Basketball
Program, targeted to children in grades k through three, begins
Tuesday, October 14th.
All the action will take place at the St. Luke Gymnasium on Tuesdays
and Wednesdays, for five weeks, beginning on October 14th.
Kindergarten and first grade children play from 6 until 6:45, while
second and third graders play from 6:45 until 7:30. All are invited.
The cost to participate is $15. Registration for
intramurals uses the same form for CYO basketball, but a physical is
not required.

Many LCA families are
familiar with the H2O Program run by the Youth Division of the City
of Lakewood. H2O participants engage in a variety of service
projects, such as decorating bags used for meals that are delivered
to shut-ins, the creating of CARE packages for soldiers serving
overseas, and the creation of hand-made greeting cards for veterans
at the V.A. Hospitals.
LCA is going to launch its very own H2O
chapter. The program is open to students in grades six through eight
and LCA’s chapter will be organized by Dean of Students Michael
Fletcher. There is a small fee of $5 to join. The first meeting will
take place on Wednesday, October 1 in the Small Cafeteria right
after school. Subsequent meetings will take place on the first
Wednesday of each month. Any questions can be directed to Mr.
Fletcher at
mfletcher@lakewoodcatholicacademy.com.
